Kindred symbols explained!

Greetings Lightseekers,

So you’ve seen the new booster packs for Lightseekers: Kindred, and the packaging has been revealed for the new pre-constructed decks. Now let’s talk about those little symbols on the cards that appeared in Lightseekers: Mythical. These symbols are part of what we call the Family mechanic and introduces a new layer of synergy between the cards in game.

There are 10 different Families in Lightseekers as of the release of Kindred; those being:

Some cards care about about specific Families, as is the case for our 2 reveals today, or allow you to pick specific Families and trigger an effect based on that; in a very similar manner to the way cards applied their effects based on specific Orders or Elements in previous sets.

Here is the first of today’s reveals – Vortex Plains:

Vortex Plains gives a boost to your Elemental cards for 3 turns, and is also from the Location Family (so it can provide extra bonuses if you have other cards that have effects based on having Location cards in play). One of the goals of introducing this new mechanic is to allow you, the players, to build decks that aren’t just a Mountain deck or a Tech/Astral Cross-Order deck, but a Lightning Elemental deck or a Chimchu deck and be rewarded for leveraging Family synergies.

Speaking of Chimchu, here is the second of today’s reveals – Treetop Trading Post:

There are definitely some fun things that you can do with this card – especially with more of the cards that are coming with Kindred. Look out for an update to the Comprehensive Rules closer to the launch of Kindred on August 7th to get all the details on how Families will become a part of the game.

Discuss this further on the forums.
